Review: Living The Law Of Attraction

De-mystifying the Law of Attraction
I can hardly believe there are still people in this 21st century who don’t use the Law of Attraction. Is it that scary to have your dreams come true? Does it frighten you to realize you have the power to create? Are you so narrow-minded to accept what you don’t completely understand?
Living the Law of Attraction: Real Stories of People Manifesting Health, Wealth, and Happiness is an anthology of real life stories written by “ordinary” people who dared to embrace this approach to life and got super results. 62 of them. Seeing (results) is believing.
There is this guy who lost his investment business due to the dot com crash and manifested his dream business as spiritual teacher instead. Another guy received equal custody of his child when the male parent’s right was not well established, especially in unmarried relationship. Another raked in deals totaling $20 million in six months, big accomplishment even for a real estate guy.
As an immigrant myself, I felt for the guy who wanted to immigrate to the US. He was first conned by immigration “agency” and lost his life saving. From there, he used visualization and affirmations and in two years, legally moved his family from South Africa to America.
Then there are people who gained better health, like my friend Jenny Mannion, whose story is in this book. I also like stories like manifesting flowers or surprise presents . . . small things that nonetheless make us so happy.
You can learn to utilize the Law of Attraction
Reading these stories is a great way to learn how really you can utilize the Law of Attraction. Some uses vision board. Some pray. Some are so confident in their own power to manifest that they just start looking for what they want.
But in case you want more clearly defined instruction on how to utilize the Law of Attraction, the book suggests the following steps (the notes under each step is my own interpretation):
Step 1: Feel Good
You need to be feeling good if you want to attract good things. When you are in negativity, you are attracting the lack of what you want. So start your day with gratitude. Meditate. Exercise. These are solid ways to raise your mood – your vibration.
People who mistrust the Law of Attraction seem to have trouble right here. They prefer to stay in their cynical, smart-ass little hole and say something like, “Oh, the Law of Attraction, that’s for stupid people. Look, life is tough. Anyone smarter than Pollyanna knows this. And they insist of feeling good and having positive thoughts.”
Well, you don’t have to feel good if you don’t want to create happiness. That is totally your choice, and I respect that. If, however, you want to create some positive outcomes in your life, you do need to figure out how to feel good. And the good news is that this is a learnable skill.
Step 2: Set Forth the Intention
Don’t expect the Universe or your spirit guides to read your mind. Be clear and specific about your intention. And dare to dream big.
Step 3: Take Inspired Action
“You can’t spell attraction without action!”
This is another point of big misunderstanding. On one end of the spectrum, there are people who think their dreams just gets done by the genie with zero involvement of their own. On the other side of the spectrum, there are people who can’t tell the difference between inspired action and any action, and runs around like crazy doing, doing, and doing more.
Both are mistaken. You do need to take action because you are the one with the physical body and therefore can move move things around. The Universe or the spirit guides can bring opportunities but you need to go get it. This, however, doesn’t mean any action brings results. You need to take inspired actions.
How do you know what your inspired actions are? Well, when you are tuned in, you will know – it is inspiring.
Step 4: Release the “How”
How is not your job. The Universe takes care of it. Your job is, again, to take inspired actions.
Step 5: Be a”Yes” to Life
Have faith that it is working. Your life is working even when it may not look so to you. So stay positive.
Step 6: The Intention Manifests
Why the Law of Attraction works
As you can see, it takes faith to work the Law of Attraction. You need to set your intention regardless of your current situation. You need to take inspired actions – whether you can comprehend its meaning or not. And you need to stay in that positive mode. In short, you need to work from inside out, to live as a conscious being with intention, paying less attention to superficial ebbs and flows of outside world.
And that is the hint of why the Law of Attraction works. As Dr. Brian Weiss pointed out, we are souls incarnated in the physical body. Our souls incarnated with purpose. While each of us have our own unique purpose and lessons, there is also a big purpose that all souls live by, and that is to experience love, joy, and abundance in the substantial way in this physical world.
This is my current understanding: When we were the Source, the pure energy itself, we were love, joy and abundance. There was no lack, nothing that was not love, joy, abundance. This was wonderful, but we also wanted to try out something different. So we created this physical world, in which, by its very nature of being physical, things are distributed unevenly. I don’t just mean the social inequality – even in nature, there are unevenness.
There are mountains, oceans, farmlands, cities. Then there are barren lands. We might plant trees in the areas that have been long neglected, which is an act of love, and thus witness the abundance of this world. This brings joy.
The illusion of individuality in the physical world
While we are incarnated as physical beings, we have the illusion of separate individuals. This may cause us to fight, to exploit others, or to feel jealous, angry, and depressed. So there are opportunities we come back to love, joy and true abundance.
In this physical world, we can learn love, joy and abundance in a way that is not possible as the complete, perfect, pure energy we were. (And in fact, we still are the Source in essence.) To make sure this happens, the Divinity has designed a system. And this system is the Law of Attraction. We think of something we want, we desire and intend, and we attract it. We play out the rags to riches story. Or we can steer to negativity, which will bring negative things and events, letting us know something is wrong.
The question, then, is: Are you using the Law of Attraction to learn love, joy and abundance?
How the Law of Attraction is working for ME
A while ago, I decided to attract publicity. My Akashic Record Reading service is growing and, while more and more orders are certainly nice, I thought publicity would be even nicer at this young stage of my business development.
Last Friday, I found that the article I contributed to Pick The Brain went on to The Huffington Post. Pretty cool. I think this may be the beginning of my great publicity. (Just in case you may not be familiar – The Huffington Post is the world’s largest news blog site.)
Join us in the Intention Game
I will be starting the new Intention Game on my Gratitude Friday series (next edition is due Friday next week). Join us and see what happens!
Update: I’m renaming my Gratitude Friday to Online Gratitude Journal. It is biweekly now, so I think this fits better.
Gratitude For Synchronicities, Online Gratitude Journal #16

Tapping into the power of synchronicity
I read two posts this week about synchronicity. One by Irene who firmly believes synchronicity is the meaningful coincidence that her spirit guides are placing in her life, another by Hunter who is not very sure and yet attracted a Lamborghini Gallardo. (Hunter, if color is a critical factor about your car choice, you need to say “I want a hunter green Lamborghini Gallardo.” not just “I want a Lamborghini Gallardo.” And don’t be too surprised how you would get it.) (Photo by Mr. Greenjeans)
I guess this is a synchronicity by itself. I don’t think there is a meaningless coincidence or mere accidents. Everything is organized – it’s just we don’t see the meaning most of the time. It takes high level of awareness to understand the meaning of synchronicity.
Synchronicities are gifts from the spirits. I met Neale Donald Walsch by synchonicity this year. That meeting let me start writing about spirituality on this Yes to Me blog. Also, I received two bouquets of flowers. I was just taking a walk that evening, and bam, I got flowers, and more importantly, a very nice friend.
Now it turns out (surprise, surprise) that this lady is on a sister city committee of our local city. I live in a small suburban city south of Portland, and it has a sister city program with a city in Japan called Kitakata. So she invited me to join when the Kitakata delegation visit our city this year.
What would be the chance to strike up a conversation with a friendly and committed pro-Japanese American just by taking a walk? And eventually being invited to an official lunch held at the Japanese consulate’s home? Well, that’s what’s happening tomorrow. It will be a big long day for me, so I’m posting this Gratitude Friday a bit early.
Are you open to the gifts of synchronicities? Or are you afraid of receiving such gifts? Do things that you don’t completely understand make you uncomfortable? If so, why do you need to be so in control?
Yes to Me has new tagline and design
I know I’ve been talking about the tagline of this blog for the last two months. I started Yes to Me to share tips about entrepreneurship as I learn and become more well-versed in my own business myself. I then realized that personal and spiritual development is the true foundation of successful entrepreneurship, and started writing about it (like this one about life purpose and illusion of self).
The challenge has been: How can I bridge the seemingly unrelated two concepts together, the material world success (including success as entrepreneur) and spiritual development? Within myself, it is seamless – but how can I help others see it? There are still many people who think money is dirty and spiritual people must live in clean poverty!
And then I noticed. Well, duh, that is the objective of this blog. So I changed the tagline to:
Yes to Me — Spiritual Healing and Growth for Greater Success
Do you like it? I also updated my About page, so please check it out
Yes to Me is also getting a new outfit. My web designer and I finally agreed on the new header, so she will be installing the new theme in a few days. I’m very excited about this – it is beautiful! Please pardon the dust while we work on the final cleaning up.
My Law of Attraction Dream Money Project, Week 15, $1,638,400
I’m taking a time out today. Honestly, I’ve been spending so much time in this design update work that I completely forgot that my dream money was waiting for me. I promise I will follow up.
Does anyone know a good way to use this much of money?
Review: The True Power Of Water By Masaru Emoto
August 25, 2008 by akemi · 24 Comments
This is the review of Japanese paperback version of the book by Masaru Emoto.
According to the preface, he edited part of the book from its original Japanese publication, so please take that in account. When I mentioned his work in my post, I found many people were interested in it, so I decided to study more, and I’m utilizing my bilingual skill here.
Pseudo-science by a con man with degree-mill “Dr”?
To be fair, Dr. Emoto‘s theory that water can understand verbal messages and change according to the message, and that water that is retoned with positive message has healing power, is not necessarily accepted in the current science. He admits many attempts by others to replicate the result have failed. He takes photographs of the water crystals by freezing the retoned water, as seen in the movie What the Bleep Do We Know!?, but this is not considered to be sufficient evidence by some.
Further, he is not a scientist by training. He was a businessman who was involved in the import of alternative healthcare devices. Through many turns, he met with a scientist who was studying water and was introduced to a device that measures the vibrational resonance of the body. With a few more ups and downs, he started experimenting for a way to show the difference of water – which lead to his photos of water crystals.
While his staff includes scientists with appropriate educational background, and some doctors and college professors support his theory, he is not a scientist. His doctoral degree comes from an unaccredited institution. And he is still a businessman to some extent – he is good at marketing, like making the word “hado”, a Japanese word for vibration, into an English acronym: Healing And Discovering Ourselves. He sells lots of things on his websites, one is here, another, and Japanese website. (I’m including these links because you can see some of those beautiful photos there.)
So, if you want to reject anything that is unorthodox or commercialized, this is not for you. Also, if you judge theory by the person who advocates it, well, he seems to be a kind person to me, but I do wish he didn’t get that degree just for the marketing purpose, so feel free to criticize him.
Or is he going beyond the limitation of current science?
As for me, I don’t really care about his degree. If something works, then it works, even if the person who teaches it is a jerk. The theory and the person are two separate entities. (I’m not saying Mr. Emoto is a jerk – on the contrary, I’m impressed with his repeated loving mention of his wife and his commitment to is work)
He maintains that he could do this innovative work because he was not conditioned with authoritative science education. I see his point. Current science is far from perfection. True scientists know there are so much more to explore, so much we don’t know yet. The educators, however, are authoritative and only accept what is proven. In any fields, education is behind the front line by several decades.
I don’t think we even have a complete frame of reference to understand the vastness and multi-dimensional nature of the Universe. So there are many phenomena that can’t be fully explained by the current science, and many people dismiss them as “unscientific” — which is the most unscientific approach because science is there to explain things, rather than ignoring what can’t be explained and thus limiting our understanding.
How to make your own healing water
Okay, enough discussion about the validity of his work. Here is his quick and easy way to bring out the potential healing power of the water you drink:
- Needless to say, start with good water. But this can be tricky. Not all spring waters are created equal. Distilled water is another good option. Or you can use tap water.
- Put the water in a clear container.
- Type or write the words you like on a piece of paper, and stick it to the bottle of water facing the water (so that the water can read it.) You can use affirmation like “I have recovered from XXXX (your ailment)” or words such as “Love and Gratitude”.
- Occasionally shake the bottle of water. He insists this is a critical step.
- Say gratitude or affirmation aloud to the water when you drink it. Of course, you can talk to the water anytime you notice. Or you can pray to it.
Mr. Emoto thinks the water that read “Love and Gratitude” makes the most beautiful crystal, physically showing its power. He says “Love is the giving of energy and Gratitude is the receiving of energy. The two makes the complete exchange of energy in the Universe.”
More about the miracle of water . . .
I just couldn’t put down the book. It’s fascinating. I find it so interesting that water is multi-lingual. He showed “Thank you” in several languages to the water, and although each forms different crystals, they are all beautiful. I guess the water picks up the energy of the word, the intention behind the expression. (So if English is your second language and you feel more comfortable with your first language, go use it to make the healing water.)
Water also responds to beautiful music and pictures. It especially likes classic music played by full orchestra. Mr. Emoto thinks this is because each instrument has different resonance and their harmony reinforces each other. If you are a musician, why don’t you sing to your water to personalize it?
He says the cleansing and energizing of the water by positive messages is different from clearing the water physically by filter. It’s done at different level.
The Law of Attraction and the power of water
The Law of Attraction states that everything, including our thoughts, has vibration, and a vibration attracts its vibrational match. And because we, as humans, can think, we can change our vibration by changing our thoughts, which results in attracting different people, things and events.
Mr. Emoto shows that water changes according to the message we give it. When we say affirmation to the water, the water change and acquire the nature that enables the actualization of the affirmation. I think this is a great way to utilize the Law of Attraction.
I wonder . . . is it just the water that changes according to the message? Isn’t it more reasonable to think that everything changes according to the message – it’s just the change of water is easy to observe due to its simple molecular structure?
What do you think? Let me know by leaving your comment!
Special Thanks
The handsome debonair King James and his great companion Harry gave Yes to Me a terrific review. (James, don’t you think “handsome debonair king” will be your search term soon?) The first link takes you to the interview they gave us a few weeks ago – it’s a good one, be sure to read it especially if you are interested in going into business with a friend.
I will be working on improving the presentation of this website. If you have great ideas for the navigation or the tag line for this blog, please let me know. And please pardon the dust while I work – it won’t take long to give you cleaner, uncluttered look.
