Review: The Spontaneous Healing Of Belief By Gregg Braden

November 17, 2009 by akemi

I am so glad I found this book The Spontaneous Healing of Belief because it gives scientific explanations on so many ideas I’m familiar with, such as the true nature of reality, our creative power over our own lives and on the world, and the Law of Attraction with the power of feelings. The book also serves as a great follow up on Dr Bruce Lipton’s The Biology Of Belief, by discussing what belief can do beyond our individual body.

belief

Reality as simulation game

Gregg Braden cites various scientific studies to show us that this everyday world we live in is a computer simulation, a virtual reality on a giant scale, in the Universal computer. What we call reality is not real, but only a reflection of true reality.

This idea of life as dream (or, I call it “living movie” in the article linked above) is often mentioned in the various spirituality traditions, and it’s so refreshing to see science finally catching up. (By the way, this idea is present in the Bible, too. It says Adam fell a deep sleep — but it doesn’t say he woke up. So, we can interpret this that we are living in Adam’s dream.”)

The good news is we are not just living in a simulation but we can reprogram the simulation, too. We are the actors as well as the directors in this living movie. We are the creatures as well as the creators. We are active participants, not just a powerless victims or observers.

How do we reprogram the Universal computer program? By our beliefs. By shattering the old paradigm of false limitations and adopting new beliefs. You know, not just wishing, not just wanting to believe, but believing from the bottom of your heart, with all your feelings.

Gregg Braden shares that our heart emits electric and magnetic energies. On the other hand, it is proven that electric or magnetic energies can change the nature of atoms, the building blocks of this world. So when we believe, when we feel the new possibility with our heart, the electromagnetic energy from the heart can change the atoms in and around us, changing the so-called reality.

The Earth experiment

Gregg Braden also discusses what it may mean that this world we live in is a simulation. A simulation is usually used for training. So are we getting trained to better live in the true reality?

This is basically the same of what I call the Earth experiment. Our Higher Selves (also called oversouls) send individual souls to this world to — experience. There is no judgment really. We are here to learn, and mastery of the learning leads to joy.

If you are experiencing difficulty in life, that just means you are at a great learning point — just as when you are in simulation program and facing difficult situation. You can keep trying in your old malfunctioning manner until you figure a new way that works. (I’m sorry if this statement sounds cynical — it is not. I really mean difficulties are great learning opportunities.)

The Law of Attraction and the Field

So we have the creative power. Gregg Braden explains this process by introducing the idea of the “Field”, also called zero-point field, or The Divine Matrix (which is the title of his book that precedes this one)

What we think and feel, what we believe, we can create — we can manifest. This is the same with the Law of Attraction, but I like Gregg Braden’s way of explanation. I always felt LoA is more about creation and the word “attraction” causes unnecessary misunderstanding. I know it works, and now we have a better way to understand it.

Here is a video clip where he explains all this, giving the skinny of this book:

Working the miracles of belief

In this book, he also says,

“Through the healing of our beliefs, we discover how — with the grace and ease that comes from experiencing ourselves as part of the world rather than separate from it. When we do so, we become the seed of life’s miracles, as well as the miracles themselves.” (page 207)

Miracles like reversing dis-eases and living just as long as you want. Gregg Braden is smart and doesn’t use the emotionally-charged word “immortality”, but he does talk about super longevity, saying, “The first 100 years are the hardest.”

He talks about redirecting time, space and matter, so I guess immortality is pretty much in his scope.

So how do you want to rewrite your “reality”? What kind of miracles do you want to work on? Now you know how to change your life and the world. Don’t just sit back and complain. That does absolutely no good. Changing your belief, rewriting the computer program, brings change.

“Whatsoever you shall ask, believing, you shall receive.” — Jesus (Matthew 21:22)

    Hi Akemi,
This is excellent!! I’ll definitely be getting my copy soon!
Where you say he has avoided using the emotionally charged words physical immortality – does that mean he’s just not brave enough lol
No ,I suspect he’s either easing his readers along to that realisation or just maybe he hasn’t made that choice for himself yet., doesn’t detract from what he’s presenting though!

Totally agree. I wrote something similar in the ‘Are you a COSMIC SCRIPTWRITER?’ in the Oprah community -

Before anyone gets too excited about Gregg Braden’s “science,” I’d suggest reading this authoritative and well-supported review of one of his previous books:.

    Janni,

Well, I don’t think he is cowardice, but you know so well when we say “immortality”. So many people react in the knee jerk way. It’s their problem, not the problem of the matter, so it’s an option to bypass this by doing something like he does — not using the I word but really talking about the same.

I will check your article shortly.

    Robin,

    Hi there!

    Dot,

I agree Gregg’s speech is a bit “fluffy” with so many adjectives like “beyond doubt” “incredible” etc. From the bio on this book, I understand he is an engineer turned science journalist, not a scientist by training (like Dr Bruce Lipton).

However, this doesn’t undermine what he has to say. The article you linked (which is a review of his another book “Fractal Time”) accuses Gregg as hypnotizing the audience with these fluffy words, but I don’t think I was hypnotized at all. If anything, the excessive use of these adjectives made me careful. And I don’t think Gregg is presenting someone else’s study as his own. The book I read has complete endnotes where the quoted researches come from.

I believe truth is a collective asset and we can all talk about the same truth. For example, just because Mayans were the first to talk about the cyclic nature of time doesn’t mean they are the only ones who know its truth. On the contrary, the beauty of truth is that it can be found by so many different approaches by so many people. I figured the true nature of reality before reading this book. Does that mean either Gregg or me are fraud? No, it confirms both of us.

I hope you understand what is most important. Ultimately, it’s not about who says it, or how it’s said, but what it is — the truth.

Sounds great, and I generally like his writings and talks. I think you addressed one of my concerns quite well in your response to Dot – in terms of his ‘fluffy’ speech. Ultimately he is trying to inspire people, so I partly think it is due to that. I think this is just partly his role – to inspire people and introduce new people to these ideas. It may be other people’s jobs to question and refine them a bit, and his fluffiness doesn’t mean he is a fraud, as you said.
And I am one of those who resist the word ‘immortality’ a bit too, but it really may be because of the Christian connotations it has to me. And I don’t really see what the big deal is about death, it just seems like changing forms to me. But I have read you and Robin and Janni enough to know that there is a common ground. When you talk about lightbodies and the like, and transforming/evolving ourselves towards that, I am with you. So these words all mean different things to different people I guess, and because of the various connotations, the word ‘immortality’ has become problematic.
In terms of LOA, I prefer creation to attraction also. I am glad there are more people talking in those terms lately…

    Lisa,

As a writer, writing style is of great interest to me. Would I do better if I use more emotional words to inspire? Or shall I stay rather cool and organized? Shall I be more down to earth and friendly? Hmmm…

You’ve got it, it’s not the word of “immortality” or “law of attraction”. It’s what it is and how it works. If you are in full health and liveliness, defying the common premature aging, that’s what it takes — no need to worry if you would die or not (I mentioned this in my Ascension post). If you are creating and living the life you envision, it doesn’t matter if it was attracted to you or if the atoms lined up for you.

Excellent post, Akemi. Your last post on darkworkers creeped me out a little. While you were saying pay attention to your energy, I was noticing a draining effect on mine from thinking about “the bad guys.” This post is altogether different. It energizes me. I’ve always looked at life as a movie. I love the line “it is proven that electric or magnetic energies can change the nature of atoms, the building blocks of this world, so when we believe, when we feel the new possibility with our heart, the electromagnetic energy from the heart can change the atoms in and around us, changing the so-called reality.”

There is so much possibility in that sentence. I tried to tweet it but it’s 158 characters too long. Too bad. That sentence needs to get passed around. Possibility thinking is an exciting thing to be a part of or to read or be around.

    Brenda,

Sorry my darkworker post scared you. That was not the intention. However, there are many people who are getting influenced by darkworkers and not even know it nor know how to deal with them, so I had to post it to help them.

Regarding the twitter — well, we can always break them down and send out a series of tweets… I sometimes do that with a long quote I like.
